In which she confirms she is still alive…

Wow, has it really been almost 3 months since my last post? I’ve been busy and all, but there’s no excuse for that. Once again I resolve to do better, though I know I probably won’t. So much to do, so little time…

Details below the fold.

So let’s see, where are we?

Most important first: Wayne and I are still together and things are going great. It has been almost 3 months now; in some ways we are still the new, cute, sappy couple, and in others you’d think it was 3 years already. On Saturday night we were out with friends and we did this freakishly adorable “Lady and the Tramp” thing with both of us eating a maple bacon bar at Voodoo Doughnuts, one at each end… does it get any sappier than that? :) But then you see us at the grocery store and we’re like an old couple that knows exactly what each other likes.

We haven’t officially moved in together but… I guess you could call this a house-sharing arrangement. We live at his house during the week, and mine on the weekends. This is mainly because the commute to work for him from my house sucks rocks. We know we’ll end up both living at my house eventually, but he wants to enjoy his back yard for the summer first. His is about four times bigger and way more private than mine. He thinks he’ll live there for the whole summer… we’ll see what actually happens. ;)

I’ve been joking for quite some time now that being in business for myself means I need a wife, to take care of all those little details of life that are hard to attend to when you’re working all the time. Well, apparently now I have one. I’ve been working a lot of hours the last few weeks and he has been making me dinner and taking care of the dogs and generally being Mr. Supportive. It has been absolutely wonderful, and I don’t know how I managed without this. I just hope I can improve his life on a regular basis the way he does mine… I don’t know what I did to deserve this but Life is Good!!!!

Work has been challenging lately. A combination of an aging technology and the sagging economy has cost me some big clients. But I’m learning to be an iPhone programmer, working on my first project now, and that is a great place to be right now. Things may be a little rocky in the short term, but in the longer term it’s all up from here.

Those of you who have known me for a while will probably be shocked to hear that I’m down to 3 cats and 2 dogs! That’s almost out of “crazy pet lady” territory! I had 6 cats when Mike moved out, but one got lost (and don’t ask me how that happened to an indoor-only cat, because I still don’t exactly know), one had to be put to sleep :(, and one went to a home where she will be much happier as an only cat. So now the brood is much smaller and I think all of us remaining here are happy about that. Eventually there will probably be a third dog, but that will wait until Wayne and I are actually living together and ready to deal with puppy issues again.

I don’t do much with my time these days but work and hang out with Wayne… we watch movies (another shocker for those who know me well :), go out with friends, go to the occasional Meetup event… nothing very exciting really, but always a good time and good company. We’re both coming off of relationships with picky eaters so we’re enjoying sampling the local restaurant scene in a way that was not possible before; we had dinner at Ten01 about a month ago, which was fabulous, and Saturday night was clarklewis which was also fantastic. Portland is a great place for people who like to eat.

We went to San Francisco a month ago so I could attend one of those relationship classes I’ve posted about before, and had a fantastic time. We travel well together too, what a concept! We’re going again this coming weekend so we can both attend an iPhone programming class. He has a Real Job (TM) so this is just a hobby/curiosity for him, but you never know… if he really gets the bug, he could end up working with me someday. For now, though, one of us having a steady paycheck is a Good Thing.

That’s about all I have for the moment… will try to post here a bit more regularly, but no promises! I suppose it’s really not such a bad thing if I’m so busy living my life that I don’t have time to write about it, eh?
