Had my first PT session today

My knees have been messed up for about 30 years (which of course means that I suffered a tragic kicking-related accident while in utero… *ahem* :) but things have finally reached critical mass and I had to actually deal with it. Last week was the orthopedic surgeon… this week, physical therapy. I’d rather just have it fixed once and for all (and while I still have decent health insurance) but no, I have to go through about 4 months of PT and show no improvement before they will consider surgery. Boo hiss.

So, I have a list of exercises to do, which was expected. What was not expected is that my knees are taped to hold my knee caps in the right place, and my feet are taped to approximate proper arch height. This feels very, very strange… remains to be seen if it helps or not. I have to admit I was impressed with the therapist; she found every spot that I knew I was extra tight or having any sort of problem with, without my telling her about them. So at least I seem to have one who knows what she’s doing, a big improvement over the last time I did PT (which was a huge waste of time).
